1. What can I gain from a free subscription to Society Golfing?

You can take advantage of the useful tools that we provide within your own control centre to publish and edit information directly into your Society Golfing pages. Our whole ethos is aimed at making your job as a society organiser easier and at the same time giving you the facilities to provide information to your society members in a timely fashion.

2. What tools or facilities are provided?

We have a collection of tools to which, as a member of the Society Golfing community, you will have complete access. The task of keeping your members informed and up to date is made much easier, after all what is the use of an interactive medium if you don't use it to it's full potential. Below are a few examples of what we have available...

  • Publish and maintain membership information.
  • Calculate and maintain handicaps using approved methods.
  • Publish and maintain society contact information.
  • Publish details of upcoming events.
  • Sign up for events on line.
  • Publish results of past events.
  • Publish a Society Diary.
  • Upload pictures to your own gallery area.
  • Run singles knockout competitions.
  • Run doubles knockout competitions.
  • Automated draw facility for knockout competitions.
  • Members can register results of knockout competitions.
  • Run a society notice board.
  • Notify members with a bulk email whenever your area is updated.
  • Your area is password protected to limit access to your society members only.


  • In addition, I have provided an area where Individual Society Members may keep their own playing records, full score cards, fairways hit, greens in regulation, putts per round and eclectic score.

3. What is the Society Golfing community?

The Society Golfing community consists of golf societies, small groups and individual golfers to whom we provide internet based facilities. We also encompass other diverse groups of people and businesses whose goal it is to service the needs of golf societies and golfers.

4. Do I have to have my own web site to use Society Golfing?

No. If you do not want or need your own web site then you can use the Society Golfing web site as a stand alone application.

5. How do I pay for Society Golfing membership?

You don't, it costs nothing. Yes that's correct, it will not cost a penny.

6. What's the catch?

There is no catch. We don't sell or provide submitted information to third parties nor do we bombard you with unwanted advertising, and we don't try to sell you anything.

This site started life as an example of the work I do as part of my Internet software and design business and has simply taken off as more and more Societies have joined. However successful this site is in the future, the ethos of Society Golfing will remain the same, FREE to use for the benefit of Golf Societies everywhere.

7. How do I administer my society area?

All societies have a purpose build administration area where you can update all your society information with the minimum of effort.

8. Do I need any technical knowledge of the Internet?

No, the control centre provided is easy to use and requires no technical competence other than the ability to complete simple on line forms. If you can use a computer then you can make use of Society Golfing.

9. Can I have FTP access for my society area?

No, we do not allow individual societies to have FTP access. Administration of your area is done solely via your society admin area.
